‘Film: 21st Century Literacy’ kicks off program
U.K. film orgs have come together to improve film education in Blighty for children and young people.
The strategy, called “Film: 21st Century Literacy,” partners the U.K. Film Council, British Film Institute, after-school resource Film Club, First Light Movies and education org. Film Education.Chief among the initiatives will be investing in learning resources to accompany publicly funded films; establishing a training and development program for those involved in film education; developing online resources to give access to the U.K.’s film archives; and introducing learning tools such as the Creative & Media Diploma and the Arts Award.
Some £12 million ($23.5 million) is spent on film education in the U.K. A further $1.5 million in National Lottery coin will now be made available by the U.K. Film Council for regional partnerships.
