AFI FEST DAILY NEWS, DAY 8

AFI FEST continues today—not at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, but at the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex (1332 Second St. in Santa Monica), joining the American Film Market (AFM) for two days. In addition to providing you with a rare second chance to see some of the Festival’s important titles (KANIKOSEN, POLICE, ADJECTIVE, IN THE ATTIC and THE LAST STATION) the AFM screenings offer new titles as well.

Don’t be confused by the fact that this evening’s Closing Night Gala at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Tom Ford’s A SINGLE MAN, occurs two days before the Festival ends. We’re simply moving from Hollywood to Santa Monica on Friday and Saturday to join the American Film Market, previously inaccessible to the public—one more bold initiative for this year’s AFI FEST.

Moviegoers are smitten with Viggo Mortensen’s iconic performances—dating from Peter Weir’s WITNESS (1985) to tonight’s Tribute Gala, THE ROAD—which have equally garnered critical acclaim.
