A well constructed portrait of men pulling together to overcome a seeminly overwhelming challenge. A group of British soldiers, a 100 or so, defend a small mission compound against 4,000 Zulu warriors, who are returning from having wiped out a British contingent of 1,500. Stanley Baker is excellent as Chard, the engineer sent to built a bridge and becomes a combat officer. Michael Caine, in his first major role, plays the professional soldier Bromehead. The interaction between the the two and all the supporting characters is well done. It is a movie I never get tired of watching.

GWTW is the model for every epic, romance or human condition flim. The spectacle, acting, music and pure movie magic have never been surpassed.
Mag.7 has human interaction, pathos, good acting, fantastic music and scenery. More than a western - a great movie experience.
Zulu is a spectacular presentation of the human spirit. Great photography and music wrap the good acting and inspiring story in a mesmerizing event. With all the world attacking english/american values, this film is a shot in the arm for our image.

Bogart’s portrayal of the embattled ship’s captain on the stand is a tour de force. The cast is exceptional: Fred MacMurray, Jose Ferrer, and Van Johnson. In my view, Van Johnson was the audience: naive, too easily led, and yet feeling good about his choice. When Boagrt portray’s Captauin Queeg’s meltdown on the stand, Van Johnson seems to be proven correct. We all are. But Ferrer shows us how wrong we all can be. I have never seen Fred MacMurray in a better role.
