THE STING

Th Sting is storytelling at its best. I was a teenager and worked in a theater when the movie was released. We would sneak away from our stations selling popcorn just to see the ending over and over again. Partly to see the ending again, but mostly to watch the audience’s reaction at the end. They would gasp, then they would applaud. I’ve seen thousands of movies, and own nearly 500. This one is my all time favorite.

I honestly don’t have to say anything.

Well I have to agree with the 2 listed below me the Sting and Titanic are 1 and 1A for me but to add to that The Best Years of Our Lives is 1B.

All 3 great movies for different reasons. I managed a theatre that had Titanic from December from April and I never tired of it

Redford, Newman, Shaw, need I say more? Okay…Charles Durning, Ray Walston, Eileen Brennan…. One of the greatest endings in movie history, the greatest poker game in movie history, Scott Joplin’s music. It really is too bad that Newman and Redford only made two movies together, Butch and Sundance and the Sting both deserve to be in the top 100.

I love “The Sting” I do not think there has been a movie that was as fun to watch. The chemistry of Newman and Redford was dynamic. I really loved the fact that I can go two years without seeing it and forget the suprise ending therefore enjoying it yet again.

When I saw it for the first time it was Joliet IL and when it was over the audience stood and applauded.

I was taken in all the way. I twas great.

I’m surprised this wasn’t in the top 10 and shocked it wasn’t in the top 100.. The folks that get to vote on these movies should rent this one again..

Redford, Newman. Has to be on the list!

How could a top 100 list not have The Sting?!!! Great acting, great plot with interwoven subplots, wonderful music, twists and turns, suspense, revenge, Robert Redford and Paul Newman… This movie has it all!

Very cleverly done. A little mystery with a whole lot of intrigue.

This is one of the best all time movies. It has such a great plot - the first big CON.
And with Paul Newman and Robert Redford - wow!

How can a list of top 100 movies of all time not include The Sting. Besides having two of the greatest actors of all time, Paul Newman and Robert Redford, it told a fantastic story with thrills galore, and surprises.

This has been my favorite movie since it came out long ago. The acting of Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Robert Shaw is outstanding and the plot keeps you interested till the end. It sure woulld be in my top 10, let alone top 100.

Great cast, great script. My favorite of all time. At least 3 or 4 sub-plots going on at the same time. Must have seen it at least 10 times have Doyle Lonnigan’s lines and accent to a tee!!!! (Robert Shaw) One of the originators of the surprise ending and definitely ahead of it’s time. It’s definitely my “marooned on a desert island” flick. Redford and Newman at their best!!

so many plots, twists and turns there is not a human alive who could have predicted the ending. great acting and the best story ever.

Two depression era con men try to stay one step ahead of the feds, a local bunko cop and the vengeful mobster they are attempting to scam. This film is simply flawless.

My first non sci-fi movie I ever saw. I was intrigued at how the real world could draw me in, make me laugh, squirm in my seat, my jaw drop and stand up and cheer all without a spaceship or rubber faced alien in sight. Newman, Redford, Shaw - an absolutely perfect cast and a flawless script about loyalty and psuhing the limit. Todays films simply cannot hold a candle to The Sting
