What is your favorite movie?

This is my favorite movie for the feeling of friendship and what it means to be free even if your not free and the cost of that freedom.

This is a well made movie, well tought characters, great plot, keeps you interested all the time, and an unexpected end, a brilliant one!!!
I recommend it to all of you.

Just an absolutely fantastic film. Morgan Freeman is at his best as is Tim Robbins…. But it really is not any one thing that makes this awesome.
It’s the combination of GREAT acting, writing, and all the intangibles that make it the movie that it is!

No doubt a TOP 10 MOVIE of ALL-TIME.

Great story, great acting, very moving.

This films takes you on a journey of a murderer (as the initial evidence proves) and with that in mind, delivers the spirit of mankind, Excellent film making which in my opinion is better than the film that won the oscar for that year Forrest Gump.

Superb story, great performances by Robin Williams and an incredibly astonishing climax which requires a genius mind. In fact, the climax is unparalleled in cinema.

I love this movie because it shows the spirit and inner strength of a man in an extremely tragic and unenviable situation. Their is no hope for Andy, yet he is able to overcome everything thrown at him and be comfortable in his situation by being as normal as he can, by having hope. I like the relationship between Andy and Red, which is full of contrast but you see them grow to have a special trust together as the movies goes on, and see the change in Red’s attitude toward things. You just don’t see movies like this anymore that are as deep, moving and inspirational as this one. After seeing this movie, Morgan Freeman became one of my favorite actors, along with Tim Robbins. You felt every nuance, hung on every word, and the ending, best of all time. This is what happens when you combine good acting, directing and a great storyline. This doesn’t happen often enough.

It is a great all-around movie. The movie takes the audience through the highs and lows of Andy’s life. Its funny but not a comedy. It is also sad, but it isn’t gloomy.

It was just a movie that caught me off guard. I was immediately drawn in and was riveted by the story. Morgan Freeman as a character and narrator was perfect for me. The way the tension built I felt as if I was in prison to some extent…would Andy ever make it…would the warden stop him…I wanted so bad for justice to be served. So much more I could say…I am no expert movie critic but just really enjoyed the story and acting.

I think Tim Robbins is phenomenal in this film. And Morgan Freeman gives the performance of a lifetime. The relationship that develops between these two characters is honest and loyal in a place where these traits don’t even exist among the prison staff. The supporting roles in Shawshank are vital to the storyline but do not overshadow the main characters at all. This is just a great movie.

My favorite movie is the Shawshank Redemption, because the film truly is a definition of the word redemption.

I’m hoping with time this movie gets the credit it deserves. Number 72 is a terrible spot for one of the most positively reviewed movies of all time. Hard to find a person who does not like this movie.

The greatest movie of all-time; entertaining, moving, inspiring…moves me to tears every time. The biggest, most glaring omission from AFI Top 10 list.

This is the most humanistic movie of the century. The acting is perfection. The story telling is great. The cinematography is beautiful and horrific. The directing is sensational. This movie gives anyone hope.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE is a classic to be watched over and over and not get old. And SHAWSHANK, when you combine all that talent how can anyone not like them. Both tell stories of hope amidst adversity (and have a few laughs in between)

Man’s triumph over oppression, by perseverance… a great lesson & a greatly entertaining story.

Both of these movies are great in every way, they tell great stories (fiction and fact), while maintaining great aesthetics, all the elements of mise-en-scene, not to mention great acting and directing. I realize my descripition of why these films are my favorite are rather vague, but it would take a lot of words and a lot of time to delve into why they are just so amazing to stand the test of time and are my favorite.

I can’t really describe what it is, other than a brilliant story, brilliant actors and brilliant watchability. Morgan Freeman is one of the most awesome actors to grace the screen. And by awesome I don’t mean the ’80s cliche, I mean it strikes awe when you watch him act. No matter what role he’s playing. I am a huge Stephen King fan and I believe this to be one of the finer films made from his movies, and there have been some real duds…

Though many of the scenes are dark and disturbing, this is the most hopeful movie I have ever seen. Every time I see it, I am blown away by the images, the characters, and the music.

This movie has the best ending of any movie I have ever seen. It has great acting and directing.

This movie changes peoples lives. One of the most wonderful movies ever made with a powerful and touching message. Superbly acted and crafted it’s a movie that will stay with you for a long time. In the last half hour the movie raises above other greats and transcends your normal movie going experience, it gives you something special, you have to watch it to understand. By far my favourite film, not because of its technical brilliance, because of the experience it gave me. 10/10

How can you tell me this movie didn’t make the top 20? No other movie gives you such a powerful message about hope, friendship and redemption. Great performances, many light-hearted moments, and I dare you to find a more heart-warming moment.

Sure, most people thought there were 71 better movies, but this one will be forever in my heart, hands down.
