The perfect mix of comedy, drama, and quirkiness - the performances are incredible in both a dramatic and comedic sense at the same time. It speaks to weirdness and discomfort that being part of a family engenders, while at the same time making everyone endearing. And Gene Hackman gives perhaps the best performance of his career. I’ve seen it more than ten times and still laugh out loud. Brilliant!

The first movie that I had no idea what it was about going into it, and left feeling different about love, life, and relationships.
Before this movie, I tended to watch movies without getting anything out of them, just viewing two or so hours of cinema. After watching this masterpiece of american cinema, I try to involve myself with the intricacies in any piece of film.

This film is so full of heart and its characters so realized. You cannot just watch The Royal Tenenbaums, you actually become a Tenenbaum and every moment of joy and heartache unfolds before and within you. Visually, the movie is exceptional and its lengthy takes draw out very real performances from the top-notch ensemble cast.
