It is perfect. No matter your mood, THE PRINCESS BRIDE is right. I love it more than anything.

AS YOU WISH…

THE PRINCESS BRIDE is a classic to be watched over and over and not get old. And SHAWSHANK, when you combine all that talent how can anyone not like them. Both tell stories of hope amidst adversity (and have a few laughs in between)

“Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles…” Need I say more? Alright… It’s got a great cast (a very young and handsome Cary Elwes), an entertaining and quotable script, and a beautiful musical score. This movie has it all. I love it! It is my very favourite movie.

Those who have seen it will tell you it is probably the best family film evere made. Also one of the most quoted movies ever. When the screenplay called for a giant, Rob Reiner casted a giant. “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.”
Should be near the top of the top 100.

Dropping Fargo and adding Titanic??? Get serious. Of the rest, Blood Simple is horribly underrated. Did Sierra Madre make the list? If not, that’s unbelievable. Princess Bride and Say Anything are more recent classics, always watchable no matter the mood.
Several bloggers have mentioned some foreign films (which don’t qualify), but I’ll add my 2 cents: early Hitchcock (I’d vote for 39 Steps or The Lady Vanishes), Rules of the Game, Seven Samurai or Ran from Kurosawa, and for the lighter touch, a lesser known favorite of mine - Local Hero, with its picture-perfect yet slightly askew Scottish town.

Nothing more entertaining and fun. Clever, fast-paced repartee delivered in tongue and cheek fashion. Lots of film bloopers for the visually acute watcher. Favorite line: “Life is pain; anyone who tells you different is selling something.” Rob Reiner and William Goldman have made a winner. Mandy Pantinkin is a hoot as Inigo Montoya. Andre the Giant (RIP) and Billy Crystal have small parts that deliver big punches. Great for the entire family!

This movie is fantastic because it is perfect for all ages. I watched it when I was younger at least once a day. Then about once a year. Each year that I watched it (a movie a knew word for word by heart) I noticed something different about it. Something someone was wearing that hadn’t meant anything to me before, or something someone said that I didn’t “get” before…. This is by far the best movie I’ve ever seen, and one of the very few movies that I have yet to tire of.

Worst closing credit song of all time but the darn best movie to watch over and over again and I mean it!

Very quoteable too!

Not EVERYONE LOVES the Princess Bride but then again not everyone has seen it. It puts the movies on the list that I have seen to shame. I am not sure how the list is rated but I enjoy the rincess bride better than all of those. they are all great but teh princess Bried is funnier and has teh best swardfight scene of its era. the swardfight has been unserpassed by all those using digital efects like star wars 3 and zoro did not use fencing moves either.

Extremely quotable, always funny and entertaining no matter how many times you watch it.

It has everything you could want in a movie: Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles…

My dad used to put it on for me when my mom was gone so I wouldn’t bother him.
My dad used to put it on for me when my mom was gone so I wouldn’t bother him. I’ve seen it about 1000 times (literally) and never get tired of it because it is an amazing work in every aspect: the plot, the cinematography, the charachters. Love it, Love it, love it!

A funny fairy tale that takes humor to another level, you like the bad guys as well as the good guys. With grandpa reading the story to a young boy, Fred Savage, you can’t help but love it.
Every time I see it there is something new, and believe me I have seen it several times. There is a sweetness with a sense of humor that isn’t in movies anymore.

One of the most wonderful films ever made.
One of the most wonderful films ever made. I loved it as a fairy tale when I was a child, and I love it now as the most heartwarming comedy I’ve ever seen.
