Not only is the story itself amazing, but the amazing performances by Robert DeNiro, Jodi Foster and Cybill Shepherd make this a believable and very human story. A landmark in cinema.

Its impossible to pick just one but i did.
Its my favorite because just like all my other favorites, It is so believable. The movie sucks me in and i enjoy watching it every single time.

I need to challenged by film, to be made to think with great intensity. The moment at which the crowd parts and the traffic pulls away and the camera pulls up to show Travis Bickle outside of the Palantine rally, sporting a mohawk, with this smug grin on his face is my favourite, most challenging moment. What’s changed? Why did he cut his hair? Where does he make his move? I’ve never been pulled out of my seat like that, and it happens every time I watch the film. It takes something so odd and unexpected, so perfect, to have that same surprise after the first viewing. Taxi Driver is that perfect.

I think this sums up a lonely soul. We all search for meaning in life, and we all want to save someone else - even the most misguided attempts count. The ending is great too, we all want recognition for our deeds but we live in dream worlds. Travis is a man who exists outside of society, he is not embarrassed by stupid things and is actually the most honest person in the film. I don’t know, I just think it gets eveything right and the casting is great.

Maybe the best collaboration from DeNiro and Scorsese.
Simply the best.
But Citizen Kane, 8 1/2, Rules Of The Game and Godfather Part II are very close to it.

Robert De Niro gives the greatest performance of ALL time. Starring next to the greatest supporting actress performance of all time by the 12 year old Jodie Foster. The direction is beyond perfection, and the entire cast shines including Harvey Keitel. The only movie ever to have such an effect on me. It really nailed the subjects of alienation, lonliness, and psychological problems to the screen. The movie includes the greatest scene and quote of all time: “You talking to me?” scene, and it also includes the greatest shootout scene of all time. Just like the main character of the movie, I felt disgusted by the streets at night. In fact I felt so disgusted after watching this masterpiece to the point that I took a one hour shower. Truely as powerful as a movie gets, thanks to the greatest screenplay of all time by Paul Shrader.

Scorsese is the reason I love movies.
The camera work, the editing, the screenplay, music, acting and direction of this classic are a cut above the rest. Scorsese is the reason I love movies.
