SHANE

Shane has it all. Geat director, fantastic scenery, excellent acting, heroism, and honor. Seen the movie in a theater, have it on both videotape and DVD, and watched it at least 25times. You can’t go wrong watching Shane!

Best Western of them all. the scenery, actors, story line, and thrilling climax is what makes a good movie. I have seen SHANE over and over again. Never bored. ken

The list is limited to American movies and there are many great ones but SHANE tops them all - Alan Ladd to the rescue of Jean Arthur, Van Heflin and Brandon de Wilde - Jack Palance debuts as the ultimate bad guy - Ben Johnson so many fine performance George Stephens’ genius - the perfect western movie - I have seen it more than 20 times
Not far behind would be To Kill a Mockingbird Singin’ in the Rain Anatomy of a MurderI have to include The Usual Suspects and High Fidelity
Suddenly Last Summer deserves some consideration
Nashville Catch 22 and the World According to Garp
How about a list of the best B movies like Kansas city Bomber and Hairspray would certainly

The scenery (The Tetons); the characters; the plot (a classic Western - good guy comes to town, lives with a deserving, wonderful family); classic struggle, good vs. evil; great gunfight scenes; after righting all wrongs, good guy gives young boy a credo to live by and up to; good guy exits in super scene. It was the Western to end all Westerns! In various forms and scripts it has been imitated but never equalled or surpassed.

It’s so quotable! And it’s a reminder that there are times when you have to deal with the Nazis in life.

I just have always been a fan of good triumphing over evil. The friendship with a little boy is a extra bonus. The best western ever filmed.

a compelling conflict, believable and meaningful characters, great attention to important details.
