SCHINDLER'S LIST

MONUMENTAL Story,Cinematography, Acting by Liam and Ralph, Direction, Editing, Sound Track,,,simply SUPURB A TRUE PIECE OF ART.

It is hard for me to decide upon just one movie that I like most. So I choose Schindler’s List because it is so inspiring and so complex and it practically touches you down deep. But also there are many more movies that I like and that deserve appreciation. I must name a few of them: American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, K-Pax, Seven, Fight Club and others. If I can’t remember all of them right now doesn’t mean I don’t like them equally.

These 100 movies are definetely among the greatest. Schnindler’s list is a moving story with good acting. Thumbs up to the Director.

OK, I don’t think there is a greatest movie of all time or 100 greatest movies of all time because a big part of that is opionion. But here are a few movies I love:

West Side Story-An incredible story of gang warfare and true love set in 1950’s New York City. This movie said so much about racism and was truely groudbreaking. It really can be called the greatest musical of all time.

Schindler’s List-The list is and absolute good. The list is life. This is the brutal tale of the holocost and how one man risked everything to do the right thing. This movie inspired me more than any other. At the end when the Jews lay rocks on Schindler’s grave in the form of a cross I just get goosebumps.

On the Waterfront-Directors today need to see this movie to know that you don’t have to put swearing and violence in a movie to make people understand the mafia. A great work of art about a thug who has a concience and risks his life to do the right thing. One of the most triumphant moments in the cinema is when Terry Malloy yells, “I’m glad what I done to you!” to Johnny Friendly.

E.T.-By far the most inspiring Sci Fi movie of all time. E.T. touches my heart.

Doctor Zhivago-It’s an absolute outrage that this masterpiece didn’t make the list. A timeless love story about a man who’s heart is torn between two women. An epic masterpiece.

Rebel Without a Cause-A movie that kids everywhere can relate to. One of the first movies that doesn’t make teenage kids the “bad guys” James Dean, Sal Mineo, and Natalie Wood give incredible performances. Quite possibly the greatest ensamble cast of all time. I just love this movie because I can really relate with it.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington-An incredible triumphant and inspiring movie.

It’s a Wonderful Life-This is the reason we watch movies!

Saving Private Ryan-No one but Spielberg could have made such and inspiring movie about WWII. Epic and incredible. Tom Hanks is our finest living actor.

Lawrence of Arabia-Epic all over! A tremendously beautiful movie. Peter O’ Toole is the only person that could pull off T. E. Lawrence like that. This movie might be the climax of American Cinema. Incredible for it’s time and ours.

Apollo 13-Inspirational!

Love Story-Heart Breaking

by Jordan Nichols

History has always been my favorite subject, and World War II in particular has been a favorite subject of my studies. I love this film because of those interests, but also because it aptly showcases the fact that there were people even within the Third Reich who were horrified by the events of the holocaust and tried to do something about it. Even though Oskar Schindler was driven to do the things he did by his desire to turn a profit, at least initially, in the end he was tortured by the fact that he could have saved so many more people with the money he had made. It is this kind of compassion in the midst of the monstrosity that was WWII and the holocaust that makes this movie ultimately touching.

So much has been said about this film. A decent movie is one which entertains and minimally, keeps you awake. A good movie is one you enjoyed watching. A great movie is one which leaves an indelible impression on one, like a lesson in life, and this movie does it for me. Marvellous acting by a strong cast (especially Fiennes, Kingsley and of course, Neeson), breathtaking cinematography and a story wonderfully told and made by the legendary Spielberg. A beautiful film which will go down as one of the finest ever made.

It’s a very good movie all about World War II!
I think it’s wrong what the Nazi’s did to Jews!
I hope another Holocaust never happends!

Good and heart prevails over hate and tragedy. Schindler’s list was a fabulous platform to show the world what should never again be allowed to happen in our world.

This film and Steven Spielberg are GREAT!!!

When you consider the drama, significance, acting, and beauty of this film… in my personal opinion nothing can touch it. Literally NO other movie can make me tear up like Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List.” NO other movie captures my spirit and gaze and grips them from start to fiinish like thisn oen. I am amazed at its subtlety. The look. The emotion. That little girl in the red coat. The acting of Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, and Ben Kingsley. I can’t argue against a single movie that made the AFI list, but in my mind not a single one of them will ever be as good as this film. I honestly believe that I will live my whole life and never see a better movie that will mean so much to me, and I am not even Jewish.

I have seen many of the films on the top 100 list but no film as effected me the way that Schindler’s List has. I’m a retired high school U.S. History teacher, have brought classes to see the film, and have seen it five times myself–and every time I see it that last scene where the people who are saved come over the rise and morph into the actual people always causes shivers down my spine(and actually does so while I’m writing this).

Over the course of my life, I have seen many great films. However, no films has affected me more than Schindler’s List. Everything from the acting, direction, scale, and cinematography is beyond compare to other films. Again, I have seen many films over life, including all of the films on the original list, and, in my opinion, none compare to this film.

The most powerful movie of all-time. The actors are great (especially Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes who both should have won an oscar). The photography is spectacular, the music astounding. Do I really need to say more? Spielberg’s best movie and it will certainly remain the best.

Not only was it the very first movie to make tears run from my eyes, it showed me how one person can make a difference, even during dangerous. Beautifully photographed, the black and white images make the film more realistic. John Williams score still haunts me. The acting is memberable too of love, kindness, and hatered. This glimps of The Holocaust is very sad but still hopeful. Steven Spielberg’s all time masterpiece!

One thing that is always over looked in Schindler’s list is just how funny some moments really are in this movie. And the thing is, that it is intentional. Speilberg knew making a holocaust movie would be extremely bleak and depressing. So he knew that this story needed some comic relief and Stern’s character in the first third of the movie offers some really funny moments. But i noticed that when people talk of this movie, they never seemed to think any of it is funny.

Brilliant movie

To put it quite simply, there has never been a film so honest, so amazingly brutal, nor as emotionally impacting as Schindlers List. Like The Diary of Anne Frank (another amazing film) Schindlers List does the impossible by finding a story of good triumphing in a time of unspeakable evil. When we first meet Oskar Schindler, he is nothing more then an ambitious war profiteer and a friend of the Nazi party without truly believing in their principles. Over time, with the help of his jewish accountant, Izhtak Stern, Schinlder builds his business empire. At first he famous is apethetic to the events surrounding him, but, over time, develops a conscience and risks everything he owns for the greater cause, saving the lives of 1100 men, women, and children.
Liam Neeson’s portrayal of Schindler is easily one of the best performances by a male actor. Ben Kingsly plays Stern as a kind of world-weary Jiminy Cricket, eventually opening Schindlers eyes to the world around them. Rounding out the acting ensemble is Ralph Fiennes as Schindler’s “friend” Amon Goethe, a ruthless killer and devotee of the Nazi cause. Fiennes has the look of a man completly void of conscience, mercy, or anything in the way of human emotion.
Despite all of the wonderful performances this film has to offer, it’s Steven Spielberg who walks away with the most honors. His attention to detail really help people feel the senseless brutality of the Holocaust. The scene that sticks out (for me) is the shower scene. Having been “accidentally” shipped to Auchwitz instead of to Schindlers factory, a group of women are stripped, shaved, and herded into a group shower, not knowing if it will be poison gas or water they’ll be sprayed with. When I first watched this film, I was in my living room with my parents and my dog at my feet, but I felt as though I was about to be gassed myself. That’s how powerful this film is. All thanks to Spielberg.

Everything is perfect : Pace, storytelling, Black and white cinematography, editing, score, acting. The best Spielberg movie by a mile.

“Schindler’s List” is my favorite movie for a number of reasons. The performances are unforgettable. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes give two of the greatest performances in the history of cinema. John Williams’ Score is absolutely breathtaking and Janusz Kaminski’s cinematography is wonderful. The great Steven Spielberg guilds the film in the right direction and Steven Zaillian’s script is full of excellent dialog. Every time I watch “Schindler’s List,” I can’t help but cry and feel deeply touched by its message. It’s a film that changed my life and I will forever be inspired by it.

SHINDLER'S LIST

The most affecting film of all time. A story that not only makes you cry for memory, but cry for hope. A beautifully directed masterpiece.

Being Jewish, Schindler’s List is the single greatest film about the Holocaust ever made. To me it is more than just a movie, it is a lasting memorial for those who died in the Holocaust. Not only do i find this films story to be extremly movie, i find it visually beautiful. Every shot is a work of art. A film that will live on for the rest of mankind. A masterpiece.

This movie made me cry. It was so inspirational. This made Spielberg the greatest director.

I think this movie shows one man giving up everything for nothing in return. It inspires us that we can do amazing things when we put our mind to it.

This is the film that gave me the push to devote my life to the study of the Holocaust.

After seeing this film, I began to realize that I wanted to devote my life to the study of history. It is truly the definite Holocaust film, but more importantly a film about the struggle of man to survive. It individualized the stories of specific REAL people who survived the atrocities of the Holocaust. Well acted, WELL DIRECTED, with excellent cinematography and imagery, this film will forever remain a classic.

Based on the true story about the heroic efforts of Oskar Schindler. In Schindler’s List, Oskar rescues many Jews from being killed during the Holocaust.

It is a powerful experience, and it’s one of the few movies that makes me cry.

Inspiring movie that made a huge impact on me.

Because I’m an aspiring Portuguese Filmmaker and this represents the pinnacle of movie directing to me.The skill and talent that was put onto this film is to me unsurpased.Add to that,it brought the Holocaust back in people’s memories;so it shocks and freezes them with it’s unfliching cruelty and coldness but at the end you leave the film feeling inspired and worm.Directing(Spielberg’s best),Acting(Liam Neeson’s and Ralph Fiennes best, along with a great performance by Sir Ben),Cinematography,Music and Writing are among the best ever made.A trully magnificent and inspiring movie that made a huge impact on me.

I was in doubt to elect this as my favourite because I also rate The Godfather,Lawrence of Arabia,A Clockwork Orange,Seven Samurai as highly as this one,but I think I would prefer this one coming ahead because of what it means to me,the Human Spirit and great Movie Making.
