SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

Speilberg’s war epic is second to none. The sheer intensity and dark imagery excellently exemplify the horror of war. But what also makes this film a masterpeice is the way it glorifies the American soldier. Focusing the plot on a band of American soldiers on a mission to save one, Speilberg brings to life the personalities and the relationships of the characters, and what it meant being a soldier fighting to protect their country. I don’t think you can ask for a better American movie that has more honor, grace, and patriotism than Saving Private Ryan.

i am not sure which is my favourite movie but i know this one is one of them for its story, acting, visual effects, ect.

The most stirring, emotional, and real portrayal of the Second World War that I have ever seen.

The greatest most realistic war movie ever made, Spielberg at his finest. A story that shows the different personalitys of soldiers during war and the sacrifices that have to be made.

One of the tests of a movie is how you react on 2nd and 3rd viewing. Do you react as strongly as you did the first time you saw the movie? Saving Private Ryan stands up. The scene in which the soldier is frozen by fear listening to his friend being killed still makes me cringe. I find myself trying to urge him to join the fight, knowing that he will not.

Truly great filmmaking often leaves you with more questions than answers and this movie does that.

This movie gives us just an inkling of insite into the human sacrifice made during those trying times. Most people these days have no idea of what was asked of that generation of men and women. It also shows the willingness of fellow soldiers to lay down there own life so that others may live on. This is by far my favorite.

I knew Carl Miller of Millington, TN who was in the 709th tank battalion (his tank sank before it hit the beach) who went up Omaha Beach (the opening scene in the movie). Only 5% lived in the first wave, and he was in the second wave where 50% lived. The movie made me understand his bravery to face death. As he went up the beach all he could see was death. Arms, heads, legs, and gallons of blood hit him as he went up that beach. He saw so many of his friends die. He was in over 200 days of combat during the war. Three cheers to Steven Spielberg for portraying such a scene as that. He gave me a great appreciation for people’s sacrifice and bravery.

Exciting and heartbreaking, an excellent portrait of the greatest generation and the comraderie of the small unit that still exists today in America’s military. Not only the best war movie ever, the best movie ever.

Vividly dramatic depiction of war

This movie was very moving. It is probably all around the saddest movie I’ve ever seen. Steven Spielberg is beyond a doubt the greatest director ever.

During the D-Day invasion of Normandy in WW2, 8 soldiers experience the absolute horrors of war while searching for 1 soldier to send him home after his 3 other brothers have been killed in action.

This is the most realistic war movie ever made. Spielberg has successfully captured the horrors of war with this heart-pounding, breath-taking epic. He raised the bar and changed the way war movies are filmed forever. The fact that it got snubbed for the best picture Oscar by Shakespear in Love is a complete travisty! It is the best war movie ever made.

A rescue story set in late WWII.

It’s so realistic that I feel like I am the person looking on at the other guys in the squad and saying nothing but using my skills to help all that I can.
