Oscar Nominated

I remember when I first saw BBM at the Denver Film Festival, there was so much hype surrounding the movie that I was afraid I was going to be disappointed. Well, seeing as I placed it as my favorite movie, it’s quite obvious that the movie moved me tremendously. The acting was top notch, the directing was amazing and the story was beautifully heartbreaking. Everything that makes a movie great, and a classic for sure.

This movie gave me a perspective on an issue I never really thought of, and for that reason was life changing. It showed a world in which it is impossible to love, a feeling all to familiar to everyone. The visuals are stunning from beginning to end, and although it was simple, it showed the simplicity of love. The score was brilliant, all the actors showed their versatility, the direction was beyond belief, the writing was stunning, and the movie itself is a personal favorite.

Amazing acting, fabulous twists, gorgeous picture making, and quite possibly the most famous character ever put to the screen. Absolutely phenomenal.

Without a shadow of a doubt, I am prepared to name Beauty and the Beast the best Musical of all time, if not one of the greatest pictures of the 20th century (and yes, I really did just say those things). A clearly underappreciated film, some people are shocked, but satisfied, when I remind them of it’s 1991 Academy award nomination for the coveted Oscar: BEST PICTURE. Beauty and the Beast was the first, and still is, the only animated feature to ever be nominated for BEST PICTURE. In the end it walked away with two (Best Original Song, Best Original Score).

I believe that the Disney Company captured lightning in a bottle fo those three years (1989: The Little Mermaid - 1991: Beauty and the Beast). You don’t see animated pictures like those of the early nineties anymore.

Hated as it may be by Americans, von Trier is a mastermind of nowadays cinema.

the absolute funniest movie of all time. The only thing that could have made it better would have been Richard Pryor starring, but his writing in plainly visable through the script.

This is the most humanistic movie of the century. The acting is perfection. The story telling is great. The cinematography is beautiful and horrific. The directing is sensational. This movie gives anyone hope.

Titanic: best movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life. it’s a great movie, and as we all know the ship sinks at the end, the whole movie is very romantic because as you watch every little innocent scene between jack (leo dicaprio) and rose (kate winslet), you know time is ticking. i think it’s sad and romantic how jack tells rose to never let go of the promise to live her life at the very end and OMG i loooooove every little thing about this storyline. and leo dicaprio is very hot. and kate winslet is stunning as usual.
King Kong (2005): it has EVERYTHING!! suspense, romance, action, adventure, humor, etc. the special effects=woaaaahhh. i dont care how long the movie is, it’s just fabulous. naomi watts, adrien brody, and jack black were GREAT pretending they saw kong or a dinosaur, etc, when there was nothing actually there as they were filming. and yes, i did cry at the end.every time i watch it, i get teary eyed. i think naomi watts should have been nominated for an oscar for playing ann darrow. peter jackson made a GREAT remake.
Little Miss Sunshine: probably one of the best movies in 2006. it’s hilarious. i love how a little indie movie made it as a nominee for best picture at the oscars!!! :] its a spectacular movie of how a little girl from a dysfunctional family shows everyone what it really means to win. and you gotta love abigail breslin dancing to superfreak!!! lms has a great choice of actors and a wonderful screenplay!!!!!!!!! I love this movie! soo different, what other movie have you seen with a dysfunctional family pushing a yellow bus? GOTTA LOVE IT!!
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape: Leo DiCaprio blew me out of the water. He was that good as playing mentally challenged Arnie. Johnny Depp was great too. He was going through a really tough time and made me believe what Gilbert was going through. I just love this movie cuz its so different and deep. You really feel like you’re a part of the family.
Million Dollar Baby: It’s real, it’s sad, it’s perfect.
Forrest Gump: i love watching forrest in different parts of history, no plot but has a point. it has you laughing and crying.

Coming from a novella, I was greatly impressed how the writer/director was able to significantly improve upon the original source material. Take for instance one of the changes employed: the book’s several jail wardens were compressed into just one for the firm version. Running for two hours, this technique enhanced characterization and made up for an unforgettable climax. Of the few times werein a film was able to improve upon the novel it was based upon, Shawshank should rank right up there with The Godfather and The Fight Club.

beautiful love story is not represented it has happy ending. Obtains the love forever is the best recollection.

Love needs honesty. Honesty needs courage. Are they able to face the love suffering. If they are unable to do, the result is leaving and then bury in the deepest of the hearts.

GWTW is the model for every epic, romance or human condition flim. The spectacle, acting, music and pure movie magic have never been surpassed.

Mag.7 has human interaction, pathos, good acting, fantastic music and scenery. More than a western - a great movie experience.

Zulu is a spectacular presentation of the human spirit. Great photography and music wrap the good acting and inspiring story in a mesmerizing event. With all the world attacking english/american values, this film is a shot in the arm for our image.

Both of these movies are great in every way, they tell great stories (fiction and fact), while maintaining great aesthetics, all the elements of mise-en-scene, not to mention great acting and directing. I realize my descripition of why these films are my favorite are rather vague, but it would take a lot of words and a lot of time to delve into why they are just so amazing to stand the test of time and are my favorite.

As I was saying, my favourite movie is seven. Why you may ask.. Well, Seven has it all.. A great story, the greatest actors and a magnificent ending. I can watch this movie every day, I really love it. This movie has it ALL!

I think that A Clockwork Orange is the most picturesque movie I’ve ever seen. It gives off so much energy, adrenaline and glamour. Is obsessing, thrilling, brainwashing, convincing, bizzare, harsh and you can’t compare it with any other movie from this category. It totally different. Above all, all the technical elements are very well combined: the music, the costumes, the montage, the image, the backgrounds…
Malcolm McDowell plays terrific… I really can’t understand why he wasn’t nominated for Oscars… He definetly deserved that.
About Kubrick… he is a master! He proved again what art means…

It is such a great drama with anger and personalities pitted against each other. The part that impresses me the most is that with all the anger in the movie, there is no vile language. It should be an inspiration to modern film makers that a great movie can be made without sex, violence, filthy language and car crashes. I am no prude; I do my share of cussing. I just think that we should have more movies like this with a lot of emotion shown without stooping to the stock attractions.
I see it again and again and never tire of it. I am sorry that with all the great acting Henry Fonda did that he never won an acedemy award except for the fake one for “On Golden Pond” just given to him out of guilt.

Though many of the scenes are dark and disturbing, this is the most hopeful movie I have ever seen. Every time I see it, I am blown away by the images, the characters, and the music.

I’ll definetly go for it. Is the most fulminant piece of cinema I’ve ever seen. Is full of energy and originality. Also, it perfectly combines different faces of art. You can see it 30 times and not get bored at all… Is a lot to talk about ACO. The point is that it made history.

Kubrick’s movie is a real masterpiece!

First of all is very original and is brilliantly done: the image, the costumes, the MUSIC, the montage… all the technical elements are incredible.
The actor Malcolm McDowell is charming. He plays with so much passion, he fits so great on the character, that he makes you being
fascinated by Alex De Large… He can become obsessing…
The action is so vivid, energic, powerfull that makes your blood run faster trough your veins. It gives you a lot of adrenaline just looking at it…
Is amusing, thrilling, brainwashing, obsessing, counterculture, artistic, dynamic, political. It has all the elements for being the finest piece of cinema ever made…
Also, A Clockwork Orange imposed new fashions and influenced a lot of generations of teenagers…
What can I say more… This movie is a real recipe of art.

Highly controversial when originally released in 1971, A Clockwork Orange is most definitely Film genius Stanley Kubrick’s greatest work. The film shadows around a great plot which is this: A young teenaged gang member (droog) in futuristic Britain goes about at night raping, beating mugging, etc. with his other uniformed friends until he is turned in for the accidental killing of a woman. In jail he hears about a special treatment that can get anyone out of prison fast. Her tries it out and it turns out that the treatment is where Alex (the main character), must sit strapped into a chair and be forced to watch explicit films focusing on extreme sex and violence.

This movie changes peoples lives. One of the most wonderful movies ever made with a powerful and touching message. Superbly acted and crafted it’s a movie that will stay with you for a long time. In the last half hour the movie raises above other greats and transcends your normal movie going experience, it gives you something special, you have to watch it to understand. By far my favourite film, not because of its technical brilliance, because of the experience it gave me. 10/10

One of the best murder thrillers ever produced
Superb acting by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman who play 2 homicide detectives and Gwyneth Paltrow plays Pitt’s soon to be pregnant wife.
Kevin Spacey is quite astounding as the psychopath killer who picks out 7 victims and cruelly tortures them to death for what Spacey believes are the sins committed as depicted in the medieval writer Chaucer’s “7 Deadly Sins”
A quite nerve jingling ending featuring an unsuspecting courier driver who has to deliver a package to a very remote location on the instruction of Spacey who nonchalantly has walked into the police precint and turned himself in
But what is in that package ?
This film has to be seen to believed …..a 10 out of 10 all round

It gave me my first glance at what trial by jury meant. A room full of men ready to condenm, save one. I will always remember “INNOCENT until proven guilty”

A Clockwork Orange has been overlooked many times in the past. This movie, directed by a film genius, is one of only a few that have made my perspective on movies change. The storyline had me sitting through this with a huge smile on my face. The music, charcters, and language really kept me in awe. If a 24hr marathon was on of just this movie, I would watch it without a moments thought. It is the best movie that has ever been made.

Spine chilling murder suspense starring Brad Pitt,Morgan Freedman,Gwynneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey who superbly plays the psyhcopath who just happens to be quite articulate and has hand picked 7 victims for his gruesome torture based on the 7 deadly sins as described by the author Chaucer
The ending has to be one of the best in movie history
An unsuspecting courier delivers a package at a specified time and location by Spacey who has surrendered himself to the homicide detectives Pitt and Freedman
What happens next is truly amazing …….Intense would be an understatement

Spine chilling murder suspense starring Brad Pitt,Morgan Freedman,Gwynneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey as the seriously deranged but articulate psyhcopath who leads two detectives on a murder hunt and chooses his victims based on the 7 deadly sins as described by Chaucer
One of the best endings in movie history feauturing a mysterious package delivered at a specified time by an unsuspecting courier
The ending has to be seen to be believed

I have seen many movies in my life. Movies can be funny, scary, and in some special cases, moving. The Shawshank Redemption is one of those special cases. The acting is superb, Tim Robbins gave the performance of his life and in my opinion, set new standards. Morgan Freeman is a master of his art and this movie only reinforces that idea. However the acting is not what makes a movie memorable, it is the story. The story is a very simple one,(may contain spoilers) Tim Robbins’ character is wrongly accused for double murder and he is sent to Shawshank prison where he meets Freeman and befriends him. That is the basis of this movie. Believe me when I say this movie is worth every second of your time. It will make you laugh, cry, and even feel sick at some points(the prison beatings). However, with all of these emotions running through your brain the movie never fails to entertain. I have seen this movie probably 25 times and it still amazes me and even chokes me up. The ending is the best I’ve ever seen and it will stick with you for a long time. Rent or even better, buy this movie and I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

I was shocked this didn’t make it on the countdown..but when I saw the the only movies to make it on the countdown from 96 until now was only three Titanic, LOTR, and Saving Private Ryan, and I figured two of the three would be higher, I figured movies over time just have to make thier way up.

Not in the top 100? You must be kidding. The court martial scene alone makes it a better movie than at least half of the dogs in the top 100. The Caine Mutiny belongs in the top ten. What performance in any of the the top 100 can beat Bogart’s portrayal of Captain Queeg cracking on the witness stand? Only perhaps Bogart in another movie.

There has never been a movie to me more perfect than The Shawshank Redemption. I say this all the time to people, and there usually isn’t any kind of debate on it being great, it just always seems to be conscious on people’s favorite movie lists. This film lives and breaths in me still, it is “something” that I keep close to my heart. I always remember the moment I first saw it, the feelings that arose, that turned me into the movie buff that I still am. Its a classic, addictive, film with themes that never go out of fashion — the search for inspiration and the striving to find “hope” in a world that seems completely impossible.
