The Extended Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven (available on DVD) is my favorite movie. The Theatrical version was missing key components. The cinematography in this film, the fascinating characters and performances, and the storyline all make this a very attractive and interesting movie to view. The release of a short version to meet the needs of the theatre business was unfortunate because so much of the story line was left out, but the DVD Extended Cut is great.

I have seen way too many movies to count. There are so many that touched me to the core such as The Passion, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, etc. Even the classic Disney films which cannot be found anymore due to the deteriation of youth such as The Lion King, Fantasia, and Pinoccio. Kingdom of Heaven was in my mind the epitemy of entertainment and importance in a movie. Being a Catholic I can understand what the Crusades meant as a symbol to the power of Christianity. Politics aside what i feel when i watch this movie is Passion, Self- Rightiousness, Power, Salvation, and Damnation. What I feel is most important in a movie other than solid plot is music. The sorrow in the music durring Baldwin’s funeral and durring the fall of Jerusalem actually made me cry. And that is why I feel that Kindom of Heaven is the greatest movie ever.
