This is a truly awesome motion picture. It is presented as a super comedy, yet it is really an extremely serious picture. In a most amusing way, it graphically shows how extremely terrible and severely destructive it is for a person to be selfish.
Along with this major theme, it also demonstrates that when a person is racing after something that he or she very desperately wants, he or she will not even think about the petty concerns (e.g., “I gotta go change my clothes because I got a spot on my shirt!”) that people so often get all caught up in.
Furthermore, when the movie was made in 1963, $350,000 (the amount of the buried treasure that everyone was running after) was clearly an astronomical sum. Today in 2007 though, with many years of heavy inflation, it is not an earth shattering quantity at all. So when we view this picture today, we realize an additional lesson, that people often fight about and go wild over things that are quite insignificant.

There are really eight movies that are my favorites, and I will list them here. This list is not exclusive, for I am sure that there are many other great productions out there, many of which I do not even know about. These eight though are ones that I do know about and think are very, very good.

It is presented as a super comedy, but it is really an extremely serious picture. It does a wonderfully excellent job of teaching a strong moral lesson by graphically showing how very terrible it is to be selfish.

So funny! Many big name stars in this one. You can watch it over and over and never get tired of it. So many funny lines. My parents love this movie and I watched it many times as a child with them. Great memories!!

Doesn’t get much better than this.
We’ll never see this many great comics together like this ever again.
A movie that could NEVER be remade…at least remade this well.
…and Spencer Tracy to boot.
The best of the best.

This movie has the best scene of all time, the famous ladder scene at the end of the movie. Stanley Kramer made the epic comdey, to end all epic comdies. It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is just that A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Jam packed with only the best of comedians from the 1960’s era.
It takes a simple plot; man crashes car, his dying words to his fellow motorists are that he has $350,000 buried under a big W, and from that, the film becomes a three-hour epic of the most wild and crazy every-man-for-himself chase to get the loot. Jam packed with only the best of comedians from the 1960’s era.

The dying words of a thief spark a madcap cross-country rush to find some treasure.
The most spectacular movie ever made. Everyone in this film was a star of their time. The stunts are awesome, The Acting is extremely comical, And the Climax is superb. A movie you can watch with your parents or your children. It never gets old.
