GOODFELLAS

My favorite movie is a simple ganster tale. The characters, screenplay and direction are terrific. Violence becomes a masterpiece by the hands of Scorsese. Very close to this movie, is “The Goodfather”(part I & II) and “Pulp Fiction”. The Oscar award should have been for Goodfellas in 1990

Great soundtrack, acting, and directing.

The greatest mafia/gangster movie of all-time. Should definitely be in the AFI Top 20.

cinema at its finest

Both of these movies are great in every way, they tell great stories (fiction and fact), while maintaining great aesthetics, all the elements of mise-en-scene, not to mention great acting and directing. I realize my descripition of why these films are my favorite are rather vague, but it would take a lot of words and a lot of time to delve into why they are just so amazing to stand the test of time and are my favorite.

Great cast, great story, great director, great movie.

GOODFELLAS is my favorite American movie. The cast and the acting is superb. The music is phenomenal. The story unfolds so skillfully that I always spend the first half of the movie wanting to be in the Mafia and the second half grateful that I’m not.

As others have noted it’s hard to pick a favorite movie. But I keep coming back to Scorsese’s masterpiece - Goodfellas.

Deniro, Liotta, Pesci, enough said. Acting is great, storylines are great.

This is one of the greatest movies of all time. It falls at #92 on the AFI list but in actuality it should be within the top 10. Prior to Goodfellas, a movie never displayed the gruesomeness and brutality associated with the real Mafia . Movies tried to tackle this subject, with un-realistic charcters and shooting sequences. Godfather is the most famous example of Mafia film, but the extent of the violence is a horse lying in a mans bed. Not to take anything away from The Godfather, but the Goodfellas is the first and best film to show us real eyewitness acounts of the inner city Mafia.

Great Acting/Great Story Line/Great Soundtrack/Great Direction Best movie all time!!!!

Wow, what can I say….

The acting is simply the best. The storyline is truly believable.
I saw where Al Pacino was honored, last night, by the institute.
I really believe Robert DeNiro is in AL’s class of acting capabilities.

Good Fellas is the king of Mob movies. Scorsese is on top of his game, directing this flim. I can’t say enough about Good Fellas, the film puts the viewer right in the middle of life in the Mafia.
It be a shame if the Institute failed to reckonize this masterpiece.
I look forward to watching, tonight.

Sincerely,

Not only the most brilliant, engaging, artistically masterful gangster film ever made, “Goodfellas” is also a stunning achievement in acting, directing, and editing. This is the finest film Martin Scorsese will likely ever make, and his use of music, shots, and filmmaking techniques only add to the already ripe material. Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Paul Sorvino, and Lorraine Bracco all deliver extraordinary performances, and the rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack is an enthralling subtext for the life and times of these wiseguys. “Goodfellas” is one of the most influential contemporary films, and should be cited amongst the finest movies ever made.

Voice over narriation, foreshadowing, cinematorgraphy, art direction, diaglogue, chase . . . RAY LOITA!!!

Goodfellas (1990) directed by Martin Scorsese.

10/10.

Where to begin…? Everything in this film is magnificent. Scorsese does everything to dazzle the audience and succeeds greatly. He put together one of the greatest soundtracks visible in any film - starting with easy-listening 50s tune, and moving to the drug-culture songs of the 60’s and 70’s. Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro, Lorraine Bracco and Paul Sorvino are all excellent, and convincing. The camera-work makes the audience feel like they’re a part of the film. The Godfather is an excellent film, but Goodfellas’ fast-pace and dialouge puts it at the top of my list of favorite films, and is easily the best Mob film ever made.

Great cast. Great plot. Great characters.

Every part of the film seems realistic.

It is one of very few films to display the life of organized crime with such realism and personalism. Every part of the film seems realistic and not as though it was circusized. It is as if it were being made on the spot.

Goodfellas is the life account of the rise and fall of mobster Henry Hill.

Goodfellas is the only film I can think of that is perfect in every single way. There is no flaws in the acting, the directing, the writting, etc. Goodfellas is also the kind of film you can watch over and over again and never get tired of. Martin Scorsese constantly changes the pace and camerawork through-out the film which helps you know how the characters are feeling and what they are thinking. This film is very meaningful to me because it is very entertaining and excited but also because it is very inspirational to me, in the way that I want to be a filmmaker when I’m older and I want to make a film just like Goodfellas.

GOODFELLAS

I’m not sure I know anyone who doesn’t have this movie in their top five.

I’m not sure I know anyone who doesn’t have this movie in their top five. I’m not sure I wanna know anyone who doesn’t have this movie in their top five. It’s been my favourite since its release in 1990, so I’ve been waiting seventeen years for another movie to come close.

GOODFELLAS

This movie makes me want to make movies.

This movie makes me want to make movies. Martin Scorsese has made a great movie for every decade sincve the 70s, and of all four of those, this is the best one. The acting is perfect, the writing is perfect, and the direction is stylish but gets the point across. I enjoy every minute that I spend watching this.
