GLORY

I don’t know how many times I have seen this movie If it comes on television I have to sit and watch. I just think it captures all of the possible complexities of the subject…and the heartbreaking complexity of the characters. Is there a more powerful scene in film than Denzel Washington being whipped at the order of his reluctant commanding officer (Matthew Broderick)? So much expressed in those few minutes without a spoken word. Outstanding performances by some of the best:Washington, Broderick, Freeman, Brauer….. just beautiful.

Why is this movie not in your Top 10??? I can’t see it on without watching it in its entirety. I can’t watch it without being moved to tears and compassion…The cast alone should have had it in your top 10….

GLORY

A film that everyone should see.

The portrayal of Colonel Shaw by Mathew Broderick conveys a deep sense of meaning and pride that is impressive to watch, and Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington deliver stellar performances on their own.

The conviction of the soldiers and the importance that they represent a turn in the viewpoint of this country makes this a film that everyone should see.
