Drama

Everytime I watch it, I get something more out of it. One time it was just the shadows, another time the use of close ups.

It’s an inspiring story of survival, hope and resurrection.

How in the world did Shawshank not make the list???!!!

Along with all those here I have to agree this should be on the top 100. The acting, casting, and directing were superb. Even if not on the list it will always be in my top 100.

The depth of feeling, the imagery, the artistry, make this an all-time great. This comes from a straight man who respects great movie making and story telling. Its Picture loss at the Oscars (and only the Oscars, it deservedly won everything else there was to win) renders the Academy irrelevant.

Great love story Also the movie has a little bit of everything in it

My favorite movie of all time is “The Lion King” because it’s a great family movie that will last for generations, and the music is catchy and fun. Hakuna Matata!

Hated as it may be by Americans, von Trier is a mastermind of nowadays cinema.

A great social comentary

This is the most humanistic movie of the century. The acting is perfection. The story telling is great. The cinematography is beautiful and horrific. The directing is sensational. This movie gives anyone hope.

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE shows the nobility of the common man. This Christmas classic has you rooting for the main character, George Bailey, right from the beginning. Jimmy Stewart, along with Donna Reed, Sam Hinds, and all the other great character actors are so believable as decent, caring people it gives you hope for the human race. To top it off, this movie has the most up ending of any I’ve
seen !

It’s extremely witty, well written, well acted and romantic.

IT HAD EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A MOVIE IT KEEPS YOUR INTEREST
IN THE WHOLE MOVE ALL THE CAST WAS GREAT

Anytime you add Martin Scorsese with Robert De Nero and some Joe Pesci, you will make one hell of a film.

There were two versions. I did not see the one made in 1950. The 1998 version starring Jimmy Stewart is my favorite. The casting for each part could not have been more perfect. All of the actors were superb.
The story was very different, but could have been a true scenario. I AM ASTOUNDED THAT IT WAS NOT IN THE TOP 100!!

BOB FEDORUK

Titanic: best movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life. it’s a great movie, and as we all know the ship sinks at the end, the whole movie is very romantic because as you watch every little innocent scene between jack (leo dicaprio) and rose (kate winslet), you know time is ticking. i think it’s sad and romantic how jack tells rose to never let go of the promise to live her life at the very end and OMG i loooooove every little thing about this storyline. and leo dicaprio is very hot. and kate winslet is stunning as usual.
King Kong (2005): it has EVERYTHING!! suspense, romance, action, adventure, humor, etc. the special effects=woaaaahhh. i dont care how long the movie is, it’s just fabulous. naomi watts, adrien brody, and jack black were GREAT pretending they saw kong or a dinosaur, etc, when there was nothing actually there as they were filming. and yes, i did cry at the end.every time i watch it, i get teary eyed. i think naomi watts should have been nominated for an oscar for playing ann darrow. peter jackson made a GREAT remake.
Little Miss Sunshine: probably one of the best movies in 2006. it’s hilarious. i love how a little indie movie made it as a nominee for best picture at the oscars!!! :] its a spectacular movie of how a little girl from a dysfunctional family shows everyone what it really means to win. and you gotta love abigail breslin dancing to superfreak!!! lms has a great choice of actors and a wonderful screenplay!!!!!!!!! I love this movie! soo different, what other movie have you seen with a dysfunctional family pushing a yellow bus? GOTTA LOVE IT!!
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape: Leo DiCaprio blew me out of the water. He was that good as playing mentally challenged Arnie. Johnny Depp was great too. He was going through a really tough time and made me believe what Gilbert was going through. I just love this movie cuz its so different and deep. You really feel like you’re a part of the family.
Million Dollar Baby: It’s real, it’s sad, it’s perfect.
Forrest Gump: i love watching forrest in different parts of history, no plot but has a point. it has you laughing and crying.

My favorite movie of all time is Titanic..it’s not only your classic Romeo and Juliet story, but it shows the emotions of humans during a sad time in history. It’s just sooo good and I cry every single time I watch it…which is over like, a hundred. Plus, Leo DiCaprio is SO hot in this and Kate Winslet is absolutely stunning. :] I also like King Kong (2005) because the special effects are fabulous and it’s just so fun to watch. Other favorites of mine are: Little Miss Sunshine, Million Dollar Baby, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.

Well I have to agree with the 2 listed below me the Sting and Titanic are 1 and 1A for me but to add to that The Best Years of Our Lives is 1B.

All 3 great movies for different reasons. I managed a theatre that had Titanic from December from April and I never tired of it

How can this not be in the Top 100, and Toy Story and the horribly overated Titanic be on it, give me a break!

The best on-screen portrayal of a man not conforming to the ways of society and the system. He (Jack Nicholson) was the shepard trying to lead his new flock of sheep in a new direction, a place where the didn’t have to be “crazy” and they could just be normal for the first time. one of my favorite film heroes.

Brando & Pacino - case closed!!

college,boy meets girl,absurd,funny,80s,stylistic,philosophical.HAL HARTLEY!!!

A movie that takes an unflinching look at modern Egypt, both good and bad, and leaves you heartbroken for a time and society lost, perhaps forever and angry that it has to be so. Some wonderful performances and exceptional cinematography. A film for both those who know and love Egypt and for those that who want to know more about the sources of frustration and despair in that part of the world.

for the story telling. its has no plot, but it has a point. the special effects are unnoticeable in all the edited historical footage. the music drives the movie well. not a single wasted frame.

Coming from a novella, I was greatly impressed how the writer/director was able to significantly improve upon the original source material. Take for instance one of the changes employed: the book’s several jail wardens were compressed into just one for the firm version. Running for two hours, this technique enhanced characterization and made up for an unforgettable climax. Of the few times werein a film was able to improve upon the novel it was based upon, Shawshank should rank right up there with The Godfather and The Fight Club.

beautiful love story is not represented it has happy ending. Obtains the love forever is the best recollection.

Love needs honesty. Honesty needs courage. Are they able to face the love suffering. If they are unable to do, the result is leaving and then bury in the deepest of the hearts.

A masterpiece..may be the single best film ever made, and quite appropriately it is by one of the most creative directors of all time. This movie is amazing from the beginning definition of pulp to the end credits and boasts one of the best casts ever assembled. It resurrected the career of John Travolta and highlighted the acting talent of Samuel L. Jackson. Why is so great “Pulp Fiction”? lots of irony and the characters - they are human beings like we are, talking about Burger King and McDonalds, about TV series and foot massages..they just earn their money with killing others or selling drugs…
