Crime

It’s an inspiring story of survival, hope and resurrection.

How in the world did Shawshank not make the list???!!!

the performences, the scores, the tune of the film. the feeling it brings about. the nostalgic touch of heart. it’s almost every factor of the film that would make a chinese like me to have an affection for america. after all, it’s the saddest film i ‘ve ever seen.

its a great movie with a great ending

One of my earliest memories is traveling with my parents and my older sister and staying in a hotel over in eastern Washington. That night, we were watching H.B.O (a rare treat for me at the time,) and the film BATMAN was on. I never looked at clowns the same way.
Since everyone knows the story behind Batman, I’ll skip right to the review part. I’ll also add that I know very little about the comics, having only read a few of them. That being said, Michael Keaton plays Batman/Bruce Wayne with just the right balance of anger, obsession and intelligence. He’s a guy with a strong desire to do good, but greatly fears the idea of becoming the type of person he hunts. That brings us to the villain of the piece, the yin to Batman’s yang, the day to his night and the root of my intense distrust for clowns and their kind, The Joker. In the hands of the great Jack Nicholson, the Joker is like a hybrid of Robin Williams and Charles Manson. Again, I know slim to zilch about the comics, but I believe Jack was the perfect choice for such a role, one that makes his character in THE SHINING look calm and well-adjusted. The supporting cast ranges from pretty darn cool (Robert Wuhl and Jack Palance) to just plain uninteresting (Kim Basinger.)

A great social comentary

Silence was the best movie I have ever seen! When I first saw it, it was on TV on a rainy night at midnight. I remember seeing Clarice walking to Hannibal’s cell and how he knew she was there and was just…waiting for her. I started to consider hannibal the smartest person to the world at the age of 14. I thoguht the relationship between them was romantic in a weird freaky kinda way. i loved picturing them together and when he kissed her in the sequel (even though Clarice didn’t kiss back, though i’ll bet she wanted to) i posetively MELTED!!! :)

IT HAD EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A MOVIE IT KEEPS YOUR INTEREST
IN THE WHOLE MOVE ALL THE CAST WAS GREAT

Anytime you add Martin Scorsese with Robert De Nero and some Joe Pesci, you will make one hell of a film.

Well I have to agree with the 2 listed below me the Sting and Titanic are 1 and 1A for me but to add to that The Best Years of Our Lives is 1B.

All 3 great movies for different reasons. I managed a theatre that had Titanic from December from April and I never tired of it

Brando & Pacino - case closed!!

A masterpiece..may be the single best film ever made, and quite appropriately it is by one of the most creative directors of all time. This movie is amazing from the beginning definition of pulp to the end credits and boasts one of the best casts ever assembled. It resurrected the career of John Travolta and highlighted the acting talent of Samuel L. Jackson. Why is so great “Pulp Fiction”? lots of irony and the characters - they are human beings like we are, talking about Burger King and McDonalds, about TV series and foot massages..they just earn their money with killing others or selling drugs…

It is just so… awesome. When you watch it, you have to watch it again right away.

Brilliant movie, excellent case mainly too Al Pacino. Brilliant creation and words: “Say hello to my little friend!”, which on always be in my member. However, beautiful climate of 80th years has fascinated me most. I advice all this movie, there is classic and each should know this!

SIMPLY IT’S GREAT.IT’S ACTING IS UNBELIEVABLE.

Both of these movies are great in every way, they tell great stories (fiction and fact), while maintaining great aesthetics, all the elements of mise-en-scene, not to mention great acting and directing. I realize my descripition of why these films are my favorite are rather vague, but it would take a lot of words and a lot of time to delve into why they are just so amazing to stand the test of time and are my favorite.

As I was saying, my favourite movie is seven. Why you may ask.. Well, Seven has it all.. A great story, the greatest actors and a magnificent ending. I can watch this movie every day, I really love it. This movie has it ALL!

I think that A Clockwork Orange is the most picturesque movie I’ve ever seen. It gives off so much energy, adrenaline and glamour. Is obsessing, thrilling, brainwashing, convincing, bizzare, harsh and you can’t compare it with any other movie from this category. It totally different. Above all, all the technical elements are very well combined: the music, the costumes, the montage, the image, the backgrounds…
Malcolm McDowell plays terrific… I really can’t understand why he wasn’t nominated for Oscars… He definetly deserved that.
About Kubrick… he is a master! He proved again what art means…

It is such a great drama with anger and personalities pitted against each other. The part that impresses me the most is that with all the anger in the movie, there is no vile language. It should be an inspiration to modern film makers that a great movie can be made without sex, violence, filthy language and car crashes. I am no prude; I do my share of cussing. I just think that we should have more movies like this with a lot of emotion shown without stooping to the stock attractions.
I see it again and again and never tire of it. I am sorry that with all the great acting Henry Fonda did that he never won an acedemy award except for the fake one for “On Golden Pond” just given to him out of guilt.

I’ll definetly go for it. Is the most fulminant piece of cinema I’ve ever seen. Is full of energy and originality. Also, it perfectly combines different faces of art. You can see it 30 times and not get bored at all… Is a lot to talk about ACO. The point is that it made history.

Kubrick’s movie is a real masterpiece!

First of all is very original and is brilliantly done: the image, the costumes, the MUSIC, the montage… all the technical elements are incredible.
The actor Malcolm McDowell is charming. He plays with so much passion, he fits so great on the character, that he makes you being
fascinated by Alex De Large… He can become obsessing…
The action is so vivid, energic, powerfull that makes your blood run faster trough your veins. It gives you a lot of adrenaline just looking at it…
Is amusing, thrilling, brainwashing, obsessing, counterculture, artistic, dynamic, political. It has all the elements for being the finest piece of cinema ever made…
Also, A Clockwork Orange imposed new fashions and influenced a lot of generations of teenagers…
What can I say more… This movie is a real recipe of art.

Highly controversial when originally released in 1971, A Clockwork Orange is most definitely Film genius Stanley Kubrick’s greatest work. The film shadows around a great plot which is this: A young teenaged gang member (droog) in futuristic Britain goes about at night raping, beating mugging, etc. with his other uniformed friends until he is turned in for the accidental killing of a woman. In jail he hears about a special treatment that can get anyone out of prison fast. Her tries it out and it turns out that the treatment is where Alex (the main character), must sit strapped into a chair and be forced to watch explicit films focusing on extreme sex and violence.

One of the best murder thrillers ever produced
Superb acting by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman who play 2 homicide detectives and Gwyneth Paltrow plays Pitt’s soon to be pregnant wife.
Kevin Spacey is quite astounding as the psychopath killer who picks out 7 victims and cruelly tortures them to death for what Spacey believes are the sins committed as depicted in the medieval writer Chaucer’s “7 Deadly Sins”
A quite nerve jingling ending featuring an unsuspecting courier driver who has to deliver a package to a very remote location on the instruction of Spacey who nonchalantly has walked into the police precint and turned himself in
But what is in that package ?
This film has to be seen to believed …..a 10 out of 10 all round

It gave me my first glance at what trial by jury meant. A room full of men ready to condenm, save one. I will always remember “INNOCENT until proven guilty”

A Clockwork Orange has been overlooked many times in the past. This movie, directed by a film genius, is one of only a few that have made my perspective on movies change. The storyline had me sitting through this with a huge smile on my face. The music, charcters, and language really kept me in awe. If a 24hr marathon was on of just this movie, I would watch it without a moments thought. It is the best movie that has ever been made.

Spine chilling murder suspense starring Brad Pitt,Morgan Freedman,Gwynneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey who superbly plays the psyhcopath who just happens to be quite articulate and has hand picked 7 victims for his gruesome torture based on the 7 deadly sins as described by the author Chaucer
The ending has to be one of the best in movie history
An unsuspecting courier delivers a package at a specified time and location by Spacey who has surrendered himself to the homicide detectives Pitt and Freedman
What happens next is truly amazing …….Intense would be an understatement

Spine chilling murder suspense starring Brad Pitt,Morgan Freedman,Gwynneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey as the seriously deranged but articulate psyhcopath who leads two detectives on a murder hunt and chooses his victims based on the 7 deadly sins as described by Chaucer
One of the best endings in movie history feauturing a mysterious package delivered at a specified time by an unsuspecting courier
The ending has to be seen to be believed
