Fernando Meirelles’ movie, along with being a visual stunner, tells a moving story extremely well. I’ve seen it many times now, and will see it many more.

From director Fernando Meirelles comes a story about the streets most notorious slum, Rio de Janeiro’s “Cidade de Deus” (City of God).
There isn’t any other film that lives up to the most realistic vision of true crime fair and youthful accountability than City of God. It’s meaningful to me, because it expresses what the real world is truly like and forces us not to forget about these youths that lost there lives and sacrificed so much for so little.
