ALL THAT JAZZ

Creative, ahead of its time (see “Chicago”, etc.), fabulous cast, top-notch editing, a real triumph for Bob Fosse AND Roy Scheider et al. Sooooo underated.

‘Jazz’ is a semi-autobiographical account of Bob Fosse’s life. It details with great sensitivity and intelligence one man’s dance with the devils of creativity and addiction.

Every inch of this film moves the plot and/or informs the viewer of further psychological depths of the characters. It is perfection. It chronicles the creative process with an inevitable date with death. The choreography is sensational. The editing allows for complex emotions and actions to unfold almost simultaneously. And it is a hard hitting drama and a musical.
