This is also tied with Raiders of the Lost Ark and Psycho which are masterpeices for their genres of action + adventure and horror + thriller. This combination of sci-fi + horror which happends to be the best alien movie and monster movie. The genre of sci-fi horror is my favorite genre of the three so I’d have to say this is my favorite movie. Your probably saying this is supposed to be your favorite movie of all time, not by its genre. Well, if I’d have to tie-break the three, I’d choose this.

I’ve always been a fan of sci-fi, but this movie took this genre to a new level. The opening scenes were incredibly effective in creating a mood of isolation and anxiety. The long-abandoned spaceship with all those eggs …. talk about creepy. The actors were all believable and seemed like regular guys and gals - people you could relate to. And then when the alien bursts out of the stomach of John Hurt’s character …!! I’d never seen anything quite like that prior to this movie. Great acting; tense scenes; terrifying monster; hopeless desolation. Perfect!

It’s timeless and wonderful.

It’s hard for me to choose a favorite movie but this one is because of the beautiful photography and design. It’s timeless and wonderful.
