I first saw “Gone With the Wind” when my parents took me around 1959. I was awestruck by the entire film. Vivian Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara is still probably the most beautiful woman I have ever seen on film. Rhett Butler was all the gallantry that I thought men should have. I was a history major during my undergraduate years; the Civil War is still my favorite era. As much as I have always loved the movie, I must say that the book is even better. Still, owning a copy of the film makes me extremely happy.
