Kubrick is my favorite director, and I think this is his greatest, of so many, ahcievements. Malcolm McDowell as Alex is a perfect match. The opening scene is genius, topped only by the concluding scene with the final seconds of “Ludwig van’s” 9th symphony. And then, my favorite quote ever: “I was cured all right”. Brilliance. Beethoven and “Singing in the Rain” will never be the same for anybody after seeing this masterpiece. Kubrick’s philosophy: “One person writes a novel, one person writes a symphony, one person should make a movie”. Clockwork Orange fits this philosophy, being based on a novel and using Beethoven in a most violent way. The movie is timeless, controversial, bizarre. It is simply outstanding. The best in American Film.
