So much to SEE

This great film is always passed up. It’s great in all areas of movie making, including the great music (score) of Ennio Moricone and Paul McCartney. This is great movie making and very enjoyable. Ray

I think this movie is probably one of the best movies ever made. They should make a sequel or a prequel to the movie.

As the title suggests, there is no movie that I have seen that makes me feel more able to see my place in the world and know what I am about and what life is about. It is very funny and also very sad. It effectively turns from a silly romantic comedy to a tragic family story; that is so rare. Yet the main character’s love fro his little boy and his wife never strain, no matter what he must should on their behalf. I think that we should all be able to see the world through the eyes of Guido.

An excellent movie with great music and lyrics. Yvonne Elliman’s portrayal of Mary Magdalene is beathtaking. This movie also had 6 Golden Globe nominations and 1 Academy award nomination in 1974.

Signs is a great movie, for its characters are shaped by events so tragic and poignant that they seem real, even to the point where its scary. Great directing and writing. A movie about faith and love, and how a tragedy affects a small family.

i love this movie because it opens my eyes to the awful things that are going on in this world but at the same time it reassures us that there is still good in this world

The most perfect movie that I can think of, The Apartment is lean and coherent. Every scene moves the viewer on toward the resolution; there are no wasted, throw -away or filler scenes, and the small cast is sharp and believable. Billy Wilder, the cynical genius, never was in better form than when he made this gem.

I was 10 years old and Alex P. Keaton was my #1 heartthrob. My mother approved of this movie and took me to see him on the big screen. Everything about this movie touched my ten year old heart — M.J.F., of course; Christopher Lloyd, although previously unknown to me, was particularly well-suited for his goofy role and reminded me a bit of my scientific dad; George McFly, the underdog, who got my sympathy as underdogs always do with me; Thomas Wilson, who personally replied to my fan email years later and was super nice; but most of all, the character that clinched this movie as my sentimental fav of all time — the DeLorean. If anyone rich out there wants to buy me one or give me theirs, please reply to this post! My dream car is a DeLorean; in the meantime I settle for a Toyota truck (Marty’s own dream car). Maybe one day, I’ll be able to realize my dream of clocking 88 mph in my very own DMC. After all, as Doc’s always saying, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

analyze

I love this movie because it shows the spirit and inner strength of a man in an extremely tragic and unenviable situation. Their is no hope for Andy, yet he is able to overcome everything thrown at him and be comfortable in his situation by being as normal as he can, by having hope. I like the relationship between Andy and Red, which is full of contrast but you see them grow to have a special trust together as the movies goes on, and see the change in Red’s attitude toward things. You just don’t see movies like this anymore that are as deep, moving and inspirational as this one. After seeing this movie, Morgan Freeman became one of my favorite actors, along with Tim Robbins. You felt every nuance, hung on every word, and the ending, best of all time. This is what happens when you combine good acting, directing and a great storyline. This doesn’t happen often enough.

My father served with Patton and was in the US Army for 30 years. Patton was one of those people that show up every few generations when we need them to fight a war and then are put on a shelf and forgotten. Like Patton, I too believe in reincarnation and was told once by a major psychic that I died as a soldier in WWII. - George C. Scott did so many great acting jobs, but as I have been told by soldiers who were with Patton, he made you BELIEVE he was Patton ! Each time I see the movie I notice small things I didn’t see before.

Stanley Kubrick’s best in my opinion. Fascinating throughout. The futuristic scenes are beautifully shot and the interesting characters (especially the young Alex) draw you in and keep you enthralled for the entirety of the film.

It is hard for me to decide upon just one movie that I like most. So I choose Schindler’s List because it is so inspiring and so complex and it practically touches you down deep. But also there are many more movies that I like and that deserve appreciation. I must name a few of them: American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, K-Pax, Seven, Fight Club and others. If I can’t remember all of them right now doesn’t mean I don’t like them equally.

it is hard to think that the innovation of star wars could be outmatched, but it was over and over again by empire. with the brute force of darth vader in his obbsession on finding luke to the tremdous acting of harrison ford. this movie was a catupaut to better thing for him. the story has so many turns and subplots that leave you wanting more. the return of the jedi could not even close thease ends off cleanly. empire was a tough act to follow and it sould be on the list of top 100 not “a new hope”. the evilness of darth vader was at it height only to show a human side in the last moments, powerful!

You always see Part 1 & 2 on all greatest movie lists, but PT 2 is always too far down. I believe it is better than 1- it has a more interesting story line w/ the flashbacks to Italy, and the beginnings in New York, De Niro is superb in his role as young Vito.

It is a great all-around movie. The movie takes the audience through the highs and lows of Andy’s life. Its funny but not a comedy. It is also sad, but it isn’t gloomy.

i know i have alot of support for this film as many people i know chose it as their faviorte. for me its the sweeping landscape of italy and story inside the story. as i catch it on tv time to time i still cant take my eyes off of this movie as something new pops up everytime i watch it. the growth of michael from a discharged marine to the don is a tranformation that few movies have with such drama. brando at his best! sonny probely wished they had ezpass back in the forties! or he would still be around. you learn to real fast fredo not going to last long. i could go on and on. very true to mario puzio’s book, something that is rare in film that the book and the movie are equally great. george j.

amazing…

it gets my vote also. when it first came out, i was married to an italian, who actually wanted to be in the “mob”. god. good thing we live in texas and not new york or it would probably have happened. i just love the movie. i like all the actors and the idea of coming to america, a place that was to be a new beginning for all the immigrants. many of the italian customs bring back precious memories to me of my beloved extended italian family. even though i am no longer in that family, i still love this movie and watch it every time it is on tv!

AS YOU WISH…

There are no other words that can describe this movie besides absolutly amazing. I think the Wachowski brother are pure genius and if they had not created this movie the face of film would not be the same.

one of my favorite movies is “somewhere in time”, STARRING JANE SEYMOUR AND CHRISTOPHER REEVE, A TRUE LOVE STORY AND THE MUSIC BY PAGANINI THROUGHOUT IS MESMERIZING. LOVE IT ALSO “same time next year” ELLEN BYRSTYN AND ALLAN ALDA, wonderful. i never get tired of it

Definitely the most creative and timeless comedy ever. I admit the end is rather weak, but the first half is absolutely brilliant. The opening scenes are sheer genius: Coconuts, Bring Out Your Dead, Constitutional Peasants, The Black Knight, The Witch Trial….

The scene where Slim Pickens reviews the contents of the bomber crew’s survival kits has to be one of the most hilarious moments in film. Beside, who can resist a comedy about the end of the world?

My all-time favorite movie is Hedwig and the Angry Inch. But I love movies and it’s really hard to choose just one. I’d say that Amelie, Quills, Fight Club, and It’s a Wonderful Life would round out my top 5…though I realize they’re not all American films.

Frank Capra’s age-old classic keeps gettings better every time I watch. Only this film could tell a story that feels this human. James Stewart’s portrayal of George Bailey as the unsung hero of sorts is brilliantly performed, with Donna Reed and the rest of the cast perfectly working together to create the wonderful world we now know as Bedford Falls.
I am inspired every time when I watch this film in the realization that each and every one of us on this earth can make a difference, whether or not we know it.

“Remember no man is a failure who has friends” - Clarence was right. And this idea helps me put life in that kind of perspective. Without question, this is my favorite movie. It truly is a wonderful life.

It was best picture for good reason…brilliant writing for Shakespeare to write Romeo and Juliet based on what was happening with his own life. Great casting and acting, screenwriting and editing.

Everything done right: great script, superbly directed, great actors, and excellent music.
