This is the film that started the whole us versus the aliens genre. Great suspense…you don’t even see the Thing until late in the picture. I first saw this movie late one night with my grandfather, who used to tell me to pay attention to the supporting cast. Everyone knew the stars, he said, watch the supporting actors effect on the texture of the movie to really appreciate it. Even today the atmosphere of this film is intense, even with few special effects. It walks the line between being campy and serious extremely well. The story is enhanced by being shot in black and white. Creepy and innocent at the same time…give it a try.
