In todays movies, filmmakers use computer graphics to achieve any effect they wish. But, somehow they never really fool the viewers eye.
In GWTW, they painted the ground when needed. But what always amazes me is the paintings that were layered over the frames to achieve a seamless effect. No one ever believes me when I tell them that certain scenes had no ceilings at all. Those were painted in later.
Adding that to the costumes, the acting, the task of reducing such a long book into a movie. I’m amazed every time I see this movie.
I’ve seen Citizen Kane. I’ll never understand how it continues to rank as number 1 with so many film fans.

Finally the truth behind Citizen Kane!! If the movie didn’t end with the words “Rosebud” it probably would have never ranked as #1. That one word has made the movie seem deeper than it really is. Now as for Gone With The Wind……a true masterpiece!!! Nothing has ever come close, except maybe Lawrence of Arabia. GWTW has beautiful scenery, storyline, acting, editing…it encompasses everything to make a truly remarkable film. And there you have it movie fans!
