This here, has to rank as number one in my movie collection, for several reasons. First of all, anymore, a lot of movies, that start out in book format, lose a lot of detail, being transferred to movie condition. A Bridge Too Far, based on the best-selling book by Cornellius Ryan, was about the failed attempt of the Allied armies to end world war 2 with an airborne assault, capturing key bridges across several major crossings, and almost succeeding, against long odds.
In the movie, just a who’s who of actors, would later go on to major movies, like Anthony Hopkins, Robert Redford, and even in a smaller part, Cliff the mailman from Cheers, had a bit part on a crossing. All in all, get some popcorn, and enjoy a great epic!
