A STAR IS BORN (1954)
Posted by blank blank under A STAR IS BORN (1954) , Drama , Musical , Oscar NominatedAlthough JUDY GARLAND is exceptional in both her acting AND singing, the story and George Cukor’s directing (as usual) outstanding, and I do like the
decision to add the “Born in the Trunk” segment because Garland’s singing during this portion can send chills down one’s spine, and Jack Carson’s “angry” role is so accurate despite his usual reputation as a comedian, I increasingly value JAMES MASON’s performance as a truly equal contribution to the over-all excellence and post-film regard for the totality of its quality and lasting impact.
