I’ve always been a fan of sci-fi, but this movie took this genre to a new level. The opening scenes were incredibly effective in creating a mood of isolation and anxiety. The long-abandoned spaceship with all those eggs …. talk about creepy. The actors were all believable and seemed like regular guys and gals - people you could relate to. And then when the alien bursts out of the stomach of John Hurt’s character …!! I’d never seen anything quite like that prior to this movie. Great acting; tense scenes; terrifying monster; hopeless desolation. Perfect!
