APOCALYPSE NOW
Posted by Steve Murch under AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies , APOCALYPSE NOW , Action , Drama , Francis Ford Coppola , Harrison Ford , Marlon Brando , Oscar Winner , WarTo me, a great movie must mesmerize an audience. When I saw this movie, it was the only time I’ve ever experience complete silence in a movie theater. A full theater with about 500-600 people (yes, the old days of big screens) and no one said a word. This film kept you fixated on the screen. You couldn’t keep your eyes off the action, and when Marlo Brando appears, you just are taken to another place. Creepy, challenging, entertaining, this one did it all.

There is a difference between a movie and a film. A movie is made for commercial benefits, but films tell a story, give the audience a moral to take home. Apocalypse Now is the best example of a film. It has no opening or closing credits, and this absence gives room for the extraordinary motifs and beautiful storytelling.
