John Ford’s film about a boxer returning to Ireland after accidentally killing a man in the ring.
This film combines sentimentality, humour and beautiful rural Irish scenary. It has great performances from Wayne, O’Hara, Fitzgerald and McGlauglin that can’t be beat. The photography is beautiful, and it has a wonderful score by Victor Young. Considering, that this film was released by Republic Pictures, a remarkable achievement.
