It has been worked to perfection.
It has been worked to perfection. Every little detail has something to do with the story. Everything connects. Everyone has their ups and downs at the same time. The acting is brilliant, the music is perfect, the direction is amazing, the cinematography is mind-boggling, the list goes on and on. Every time I watch it I fall more in love with it.

I am totally with you. This film EASILY should be in the top 10 films ever made. Anderson easily coaxes out some of the best performances ever seen on screen — Jason Robards’ hazy morphine-induced ramblings, Cruise’s anger towards his father and the redemption that follows, and Melinda Dillon’s self-realization that she’s been lying to herself for years, April Grace’s calm that forces Cruise to look inside himself — all perfect and brought together by a “natural” eye and genius by Anderson. American cinema needs more films like this. I’ve watched it well over 300 times and my students always take away important life lessons when I show it.
